OLMOS PARK PRESS, based in San Antonio, Texas, serves readers who are keen to delve into the rich mosaic that is the literary and cultural heritage of North America. More specifically, we publish a select number of affordable paperback editions, newly and beautifully designed inside and out, of notable works of literary fiction and of nonfiction (primarily memoir) with a special focus on Mexico, Texas, and the American West.
We also serve those readers who are curious about the world in general and who relish in that glorious literary genre, at its poetic best a vivid dream: the travel memoir. Specifically, we publish the “Vintage Lenses on the World That Was” series of landmark works of English-language literary travel memoir.
Whether published for its outstanding literary quality or its historical importance (or both), an Olmos Park Press title exemplifies the power of individual spirit and consciousness. And whether most apt for reading on the fly— for pure pleasure—or for scholarly endeavors, an Olmos Park Press title invites you to explore, and to think about the world and the past in broader, deeper, and more complex ways unique to you.
Founded by Catherine Mansell, who writes as C.M. Mayo (Mayo being the maternal family name), Olmos Park Press takes its name from its home, the century-old enclave within the city of San Antonio, Texas. Olmo is the Spanish word for elm. Across the centuries, elm trees have stood for endurance, flexibility, rebirth, and wisdom.
